Property of a Gentlewoman
Her husband worked for R J Reynolds and they built the house in the late 1950s. They furnished the home with fine furniture and were satisfied with it – there are few, if any, updates. Both the house and the contents are pristine examples of mid-century modern. In her later years she traveled extensively and was especially fond of Spanish-speaking countries.
At this sale you’ll see beautiful mid-century modern furniture, 5 room-sized Oriental wool carpets, a vast collection of Longaberger baskets, and a Wurlitzer piano. There are two enamel-topped kitchen tables as well as a vintage dinette set, a pine dining set and a Queen Anne style dining room table with 6 chairs. There are vintage hats, linens, porch furniture, Lionel trains and Christmas ornaments. There are three sofas, a sleeper, several occasional chairs, two leather chairs, a Barcalounger, cameras, a bedroom set, reel to reel tape recorder and a Magnavox stereo / hi-fi with working turntable and radio. There is a Maytag washer, a dog house and several sets of china and collectables. There are tools, several items made in various shops at Reynolds, and several wooden barrels. There are gardening tools, pots, hoses, a picnic table with two benches and a park bench. Many leather-bound books, assorted fiction and Reader’s Digest condensed books in Spanish.
